Vitality 4 Life have put together some of your frequently asked questions about your juicer and juicing.
Can you make Frozen Desserts with the Champion Juicer?
You can make frozen fruit icecream with the juicer. You simply use the mincing screen instead of the juicing screen and this stops the juice separating from the pulp, creating a delicious frozen fruit dessert.
Alternatively, you could freeze some yogurt, cut into pieces and alternate it with the frozen fruit and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, fresh or dried pitted dates.
Just remember to leave anything frozen to stand for 10 minutes first to avoid damage as sometimes frozen food can be as hard as a rock. Then you're only limited by your imagination!

My Oscar juicer has a soft fruit problem?
It's possible you've been juicing so much that your auger has worn down!
Are the edges which rotate into the juicing screen still quite sharp?
Alternatively, it could be the quality of the produce you are buying compared to what you used initially; the Oscar won't take kindly to 'floury' apples for example, they need to be crisp. Its also good if you alternate your soft fruits with vegetables like carrots, silverbeet, etc or maybe the soft fruits are just too pulpy at certain times of the year and need to go through the mincing screen to make yummy frozen fruit desserts rather than juices.
The technology of the cold pressed juicers are really geared towards being brilliant at juicing root and green vegetables as that is where the vital nutrients are that we need and often don't have in our bodies. If you try a few carrots with your soft fruits, you'll find the Oscar loves the fibrous matter and its better for your health too!
Dr Norman Walker who started the cold pressed juicing movement was a firm believer that we should eat our fruit and juice our vegetables.
Large quantities of fruit juices can mean a significant increase in sugars which can affect the body's sensitive chemical balance.
So we recommend that you use fruit in your juices to help make the juice more palatable, thereby ensuring you are getting the maximum healthy start with a litre of vegetable juice every day.
Below are some great books on this subject.

Do you provide an Oscar front end upgrade?
Thank you for your enquiry about our Oscar 900 front end upgrade.
With the newly designed patented 3 stage auger and patented silicone seal around the juicing screen, the new front end delivers a less pulpy juice, more yield and its much easier to clean.
The parts are made with the strong quality we've come to expect from Oscar, all this results in a much more economical and enjoyable juicing experience.
The cost of the Oscar 900 front end is £180 + £10 f&h.
This includes:
1 auger
1 drum
1 drum cap
1 hopper
1 juicing screen
1 mincing screen
1 set of 6 pasta nozzles
1 plunger
1 user manual
The Locking Clip is required if your current juicer is not an Oscar, this part is an additional $20.
If you need to change the locking clip, this is easy enough to do; there's 4 Phillips screws holding the locking clip in place and you will need to use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove them.
Can the Champion Juice wheatgrass?
Although the Champion is great for juicing, especially solid fruits and vegetables, it doesn't juice wheatgrass and the leafy green vegetables as well as our other cold press juicers. When doing so we do reccommend you to put the wheatgrass or the leafy greens in with a piece of fruit (otherwise it doesnt extract the juice as well).
After juicing your juice with the Champion it is best to drink the juice within 10 mins. As it is a masticating cold presing juicer it is a little faster and therefore doesn't hold the living enzimes and nutrients for as long as other cold pressed juicing - eg, the Oscar VitalMax and Hippocrates juicers keep the enzimes and nutrients for up to 48 hours.
All in all the Champion juicer is a fantastic juicer, but if you are after a juicer to juice mainly wheatgrass I would highly reccommend a slower functioning juicer eg Oscar VitalMax or Hippocrates Greenpower.
I have gathered the specifications of each juicer, as follows -
Oscar Vital Max
80 to 100 RPM
Polycarbonate Gear
Versatile
Lower price
Juice lasts up to 48 hours
Hippocrates
Slightly faster juicing 160 RPM

Champion
Stainless Steel motor shaft
1/3 horsepower motor
All parts are 100% FDA nylon and stainless steel

Height: 25cm
Length: 43cm
Depth: 17cm
Which Juicer should i choose?
We have the 3 best juicers in the world in stock....
Oscar, Greenpower Hippocrates and Champion
The Hippocrates is considered the ultimate juicer. The twin gears mesh together more finely than ever before, so more of the cellulose wall is opened during the extraction process - releasing the maximum quantity of enzymes and nutrients into your juice.
In October 2007, Choice; Australia's leading consumer authority, tested the claim that non-centrifugal juicers produce juice that lasts longer and contains more nutrients.
They found that the manufacturers' claims are true - and Vitality 4 Life has the best juicers!
In fact, Choice has rated the Greenpower Hippocrates #1 and the Oscar Vital Max 900 as #2!

The Champion doesn't process wheatgrass or green leafy vegetables so well, but there is a grain mill attachment available which is a feature no other juicer has.
The Champion is also famous for producing the creamiest of ice-cream.
Oscar has been designed for folk that wish to make lots of vegie juice everyday.........if that's what you want to do, you'll love it.
Oscar uses a patented crush and squeeze action so as to extract the maximum amount of juice (pulp is very dry) and open the cellulose wall to release enzymes and nutrients into your juice.
Oscar has many advantages....
* 20% more juice than other single gear juicers
* less parts for easier cleaning
* silicone seal around the juicing screen means less juice escapes with the pulp
* solid, hard wearing parts

Here's a couple of questions most customers ask when trying to decide which juicer to buy.
How do I know which juicer is right for me?
Firstly, determine what you want to juice, how often and for how many people. For those who want to juice wheatgrass and green vegetables, an Oscar or Hippocrates is more suitable as the Champion will only do so in small increments. The Hippocrates and Champion can grind to varying degrees and the Oscar includes pasta making attachments. All of the motors are durable and built to last; the Oscar has the slowest RPM, then the Hippocrates followed by the Champion.
Can you explain the different types of extraction?
All of the 3 juicers use a different type of extraction process. The Champion is a masticating juicer; it has stainless steel blades which are attached to the cutter that spins at 1425 RPM. The Oscar is a single gear juicer; t has a food-grade polycarbonate "screw" uses a mortar and pestle action to crush and squeeze the produce into the juicing screen at the rate of 80-100 RPM. The Green Power Hippocrates is a twin gear juice extractor; the produce is crushed between the stainless steel twin gears which mesh together at 4/1000 of an inch apart, while the gears rotate in opposite directions at 160 RPM.
